Although we will continue to do the Dinner Cruises on Weekends along with a few Dinner Cruises scheduled in the middle of the week, my wife and I will be spending most of our time this summer with our two granddaughters on the mainland while our daughter takes summer college courses.

For that reason we decided to make the Light keepers home available for as vacation rental this summer.

This five bedroom home with 2.5 baths sleeps Ten. Four bedrooms (each with trundle beds) upstairs with a full bath, the Master bedroom downstairs with full bath and a half bath off the living room A complete description of the home and rates follow below.

Experience the quiet peace of Island living and the mystique of gone by days staying at the Charity Island Lightkeepers Home Located next to the lighthouse which was built in 1857. The Lighthouse and keepers quarters are located on the very northern tip of Big Charity Island located 10 miles offshore in the very middle of 20 mile wide Saginaw Bay.full bath

The Home has a full bath and four bedrooms upstairs, each with a trundle bed and the master bedroom located downstairs has a queen size bed and full bath. (Each bedroom is named after a lightkeeper that served on Charity Island).

A half bath is located off the spacious living room that features lots of large windows that provide unique panoramic views of the Lake Huron.

The galley style Kitchen comes complete with modern conveniences including microwave and gas range and full size gas powered refrigerator. (no garbage disposal). Maritime history Surrounds this Lightkeepers home and nearly all of the Island is managed by Federal Fish & Wildlife Service as Wildlife Sanctuary.

enjoy breath taking views of Saginaw BayThis two story home has a wrap-around deck with a dozen comfortable wicker chairs from to enjoy breath taking views of Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron and little Charity Island just 2 miles south.

Enjoy exploring three miles of natural shoreline on the Island. Song Birds are abundant.

Island Wildlife includes Fox, Mink, raccoons, chipmunks, three bald eagles nests, dozens of swans, geese, wood ducks.

Spring Wildflowers are amazing throughout the month of May as is the bird watching.

In addition, World Class fishing surrounds the island and great fishing can be had at in the small Island marina or wading off the rocky shoreline.

Be Advised:

On Weekends a Dinner Cruise boat arrives at 5:00 pm with 30 - 40 guests who will dine at the Island Dining Pavilion which is located on the grounds of the Light keepers home – Dinner Cruises are “ weather permitting” and all Dinner cruise guests are gone by 8-8:30pm (

Lighthouse Guests may dine free of Charge with the Dinner Cruise people.

The home is available to be rented from May 2nd through October

Rates: $450 per night (3 night minimum) • $3,000 per week

Add $250 for Round Trip Transportation from Caseville . For small groups of 5 or less departures from Au Gres Michigan maybe possible

Rental includes linens, appliances etc

Other Amenities include – Fire pit on beach, BBQ on Deck, TV, Radio, Cd player
